About the watch

What is the Retro Pilot?

The Retro Pilot is our first watch. It's designed by Giovanni Calamita and is strongly insipired by the first watches used by the pioneers of aviation. The Retro Pilot is equipped with wire lugs instead of traditional lugs and features a soft leather ZULU strap with four rings, which match the case.

How much does the Retro Pilot cost?

The Retro Pilot is usually priced at €189,-. Ocasionally, the watch may be priced at a lower price due to a special sale or advertising campaign. IMPORTANT NOTE: The mentioned price of €189,- is just an indication. No rights can be derived from this answer.

Can I swim with the Retro Pilot on my wrist?

Yes! The Retro Pilot has a 5 ATM rating (50 meters/164 FT). Basically, this means that the watch can be worn under the shower and can be used for recreational swimming. However, the Retro Pilot is, obviously, a pilot watch and not a diver. Therefore, the watch is not fit for scuba diving or high speed watersports. IMPORTANT NOTE: We recommend a nylon strap for swimming.

Which movement is used for the Retro Pilot?

About the Guarantee

Do Bussora watches come with a guarantee?

Yes, when you buy a Bussora watch, you'll recieve a 24 month international warranty on the timepiece.

Which parts are covered by the guarantee?

Our 24 month international warranty only covers damage caused by a failure of the Quartz watch movement. This means that if your watch stops working within 24 month after purchase (and this is not caused by an emtpy batery), your watch will be repaired (or replaced) for free.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unfortunately, if our service center concludes that the movement has been sabotaged, damaged by hand (intenionally or non-intenionally) or damaged by water, the costs of reparation are not covered by our guaratnee.

My watch suddenly stopped working. What to do?

No worries here (yet). If your watch stops working, it's likely that the battery is dead. You will need to replace the battery in order to get the watch working again. We recommend to go to an (experienced) jeweler to change the battery instead of doing this yourself. If you're inexperienced and/or if you don't have the right tools at hand, you might damage the case trying to open it. A jeweler usually asks between €5 and €10 for a battery switch.

If your watch, after replacing the battery, still isn't working, please contact us.

About Maintenance

Oops... I broke the glass of my watch... What now?

This is a bummer. You probably where doing some extreme sports. Or maybe you were just partying too hard? Either way, let's get the watch fixed. Please send a mail to info@bussora.com with a picture of the broken glass and your information (name, adres, phonenumber).

After our service center will inspect the watch on the picture, they will give you a quotation. If you accept this quatation, we'll send you a mail with more information about the payment and/or payment options. It's hard to tell how much a replacement of the glass costs. Depending on the damage caused, it's usually between €35 and €55.
However, it is possible that the watch is too damaged to be repaired (the dail has been damaged severly by the glass and/or impact for example). If this is the case, we'll inform you about the possibilities to get a new watch at a lower price.

By strap is looking a bit too 'vintage' for my taste. What to do?

Our leather ZULU straps are all cut, assembled and stitched by hand. Leather is a natural material made from wild animals and will display differences from hide to hide. Changes in the color or texture of the leather and signs of wear are normal. Irregularities in the consistency of color should not be considered a defect but are regarded as inherent to the material. Leather ages naturally and when taken good care of, can last you a lifetime. However, if you don't take good care of leather or it gets wet regularly (by washing your hands with the strap on), it may age quicker and/or discolor. If you have worn your strap for a while and if you're not fond of the aging, you can use colorless leather cream to get the 'new' look back. If your strap is too old and/or too damaged, we recommend to buy a new ZULU strap for your Bussora.

So there is this big dent in my watch case. Can you fix this?

First of all, congratiulations. It's pretty hard to dent 316L Stainless Steel, since it has a density of 8.000 Kg/m3. If you have dented your watch case, please send a picture of the dent to info@bussora.com. Our service center will inspect the dent, but it's very likely that we will discourage a repair. Usually, it takes a lot of time and money to repair a dent, since the entire watch has to be disassembled. Dents aren't covered by our warranty and a repair could easily cost you more than the purchase price. It's not a smart move to spend, for example, €300 to repair a watch with a purchase price of €189. But this is only our advice. If you really want to get the dent fixed, we will obviously repair it for you. If you have dented your watch and if you want a new one, you will recieve a discount of €30 on a new Bussora.

I think the battery is dead. What should I do?

How can I change the time on my Retro Pilot?

Just pull on the crown gently until it pops out a bit and start then turning it. After the time is set, push the crown back to it's initial position.
